Oh fingernail...

Brilliant stuff but I do know what you mean, felt the same when I heard Ian Curtis.

Very good, great morning album and it's mostly piano - I play it most mornings with a coffee and juice :)

This week I have been exclusively been listening to Wire.

(They came to Atlanta last Sunday, played a blistering set and I'm now 3/4's of the way through listening to my Wire iPod selection).

I am liking the free one more...

Yep, I'm with you on this one. We got them both at the station and the one with the kitty and bunny is very starry eyed pop feeling, while the the free one is much more prog and lush. Quite a few people were disappointed by Snowflake Midnight but I guess it'll get them some new fans?

Being at the radio station we get lots of new stuff every week. Apparently this time of year is one of the big seasons for new releases so lately we've been swamped. It's really great but also exhausting! Most of it is kinda middle of road good, some is awesome, a few things are crap.

Some recent gems include: Funckarma - Vell Vagranz, Johan Agebjorn - Mossebo, 808 State reissues, Robin Guthrie - 3:19 Bande Originale du Film, Ame - Fabric 42, Pure H - Signia, Martin Rev - Les Nymphes.

The new album is good eh? Hard to believe it's really their 47th album - that's mad!

The new album is fantastic. It took a little time to grow on me after hearing 'One Of Us' http://www.pinkflag.com/assets/mp3/One-Of-Us_from_Object-47_by_Wire.mp3 (which they gave away as an MP3 teaser) and falling in love with it but once I got it it's been one of my fave two of the year.

I think it is was their 47th release, not album... I think only Peter Namlook could do that sort of thing! :)

Ah, that makes more sense and yeah, hard to touch Peter Namlook altho' Eno and Budd have to be up there - lol! The press release was a bit shocking, I didn't think they had that many records but I've slept on their stuff for a while so I just assumed I was out of the loop!

Luc Ferrari - Far-West News: Episodes 2 And 3 - recording and mix of a trip to the USA, and some other releases from the last year or so.

Dug out some en-tact era Shamen, good fun but lyrics haven't aged so well.

... well worth getting re-acquainted i'd say :)

this week i finished my wire-athon, listened to 'the joshua tree' (still think this was u2's swan song album), talvin singh's 'anokha' (asian sounds of the underground... some nice d&b) and a mix album by jack dangers (of meat beat manifesto).

(also listened a lot to my first new track in 4 years, which i have been working on for the past couple of days... it's called 'i am the land', a weird tribal ambient thing with lots of wonky rhythms. nowhere near being finished yet but it feels really good to have broken the writer's block cycle)
