not a fan personally.. never really have been of such games, am more of a twitch shooter (UT mainly and some quake).

but my friend enjoyed the CoD4.. said that CoD5 was ok but even i can see that remaking another WW2 game is just utterly pointless, atleast hats off to them for making it a bit different (looking at the eastern european front and also at what was going on in japan if i recall) beats the same old rubbish at omaha beach which personally i dont find remotely fascinating compared to some of the stuff on the eastern european front.

Lots of my friends have complained that COD 5 is basically just COD4.5 and they do have a good argument... COD6 is back under the wing of Infinity Ward with another modern day setting, so I'm hoping that's gonna be a bit special.....

modern warfare 2 looks like it's gonna be fun, I am all up for that and I think people should get it for PC like real men and not get it for consoles like failures =] I hate FPS's on consoles >.<

You can't beat the reason consoles were invented >> Playing from the sofa

i think the reasoning is more the input method, im also not a fan of much games on console, only some RPGs/ racing games/ something else that works well with the input. i agree some can be good but when you compare the controller to a mouse and keyboard its just nothing compared to it, and at the end of the day it seems almost a bit like a dumbed down version of the PC version.

you also get the graphical issue (which ofc aint really a problem to many people) but its still there, a console only has limited resources while on a computer you can greatly exceed that, for instance the difference between Farcry 2 on the xbox and computer is that on the xbox it doesnt use MSAA or AAA, and those 2 things make a huge impact on graphics in such a game (make a huge impact on FPS too lol).

either way, each to their own :)

btw.. if i wanted i could slap my monitor by my bed and play my computer without leaving my bed all day ;) we have such luxuries too

I'm eagerly anticipating Modern Warfare 2, which I will be picking up for the PC when it comes out. :D I really enjoyed the first one in a LAN setting. So far it is one of the top contenders for my favorite shooter of all time, I'm hoping the sequel lives up to its predecessor's standards.

Good luck with that. IW recently announced that they would forgo the PC traditions of a Server Borwser and Dedicated Servers in favor of matchmaking. I for one will be pirating it in protest(before you say anything I bought CoD 4). MM works for games like L4D but utterly fails at making any meaningful matches with larger games. Could you imagine how much CS would suck with MM?

Sorry, I baled on COD2. Which i enjoyed very much, especially online.
But i'm not a fan of 'modern conflict' styled games, myself.
looks great though. nice to see the PC still cutting it at the bleeding edge.

Left 4 Dead?? Matchmaking?? what???

its been a year and it still hasnt got any 4v4 mathmaking or anything, but ofc now theyve completely given up on that game and have moved on to their brand spanking new sequel which is exactly the same game but with black people..

The matchmaking news was a complete disappointment. The only reason I'm getting it on the PC at all is so I can game with the people back home and others around the world I've met online through various means. Console is simply a poor platform for shooters, to boot. If I were in it for the single player campaign, I too would be donning the eye patch and peg leg in protest, but seeing as I'm looking to hook up with a few buddies online I don't have much choice. (if only Hamachi wasn't complete fail...) :(

I wound up with a copy for the 360 as well, after the true extent of how heavily they screwed over the PC lot was revealed post-launch. -_- I'm generally on late evenings US PST.
