Sonar Report

Asking us if tBd want to go to Barcelona for 5 days and play Sonar and La Terrazza can only b guaranteed?one answer! Barcelona has to be one of our favourite cities and it doesn’t take much at all to get us over there. After a short delay at Leeds airport and a delay waiting for a lift at BCN airport we landed at our hotel to drop the bags off before head straight out to the Soma party.?

La Terrazza is in the middle of?Poble Espanyol Ayda complex, it feels like you’re in the wrong place to start with as the location is so beautiful and there’s no one around at all. You can’t hear a single beat being played, it’s only when you get inside the club that you can hear the music (more on this later). Dave Soma gave us 25 beer and water (yeah right) tokens and we sat back and listened to Silicone Soul warming the crowd up nicely. Next up was Mark Henning and then us for a short slot before chilling out and having a few too many beers, the rest is just a blur…Well apart from having to keep the volume level below 92db, what a freaking nightmare, people constantly leaning over you and messing with the mixer, we did manage to bottom the whole system out twice tho 🙂

Reviews and Quotes are starting to come back in for Radio Scarecrow, so we thought we’d share what’s coming in with the dogsquad – we don’t have a massive PR machine and do much of the PR ourselves with Don from Soma. We’ll be adding to this thread as things come in.

If any one UK outfit was responsible for taking the Detroitian templates and blending ? rather than bastardising ? their boundaries into something genuinely innovative, then that would be The Black Dog. Remaining as invigorating as ever, visionary early-?90s works like ?Temple of Transparent Balls? and ?Spanners? might have been tagged ?intelligent techno? but their cutting edges bled influences into d&b, ambient and electronica. Now a reshaped trio (Ed Handley and Andy Turner long departed to continue their Plaid project), original member Ken Downie and kindred underground spirits Martin and Richard Dust have spent three years labouring on this latest sonic masterpiece.
