Live In Barcelona 25/03/2022 – Out Now
Posted on 2nd June 2022 in Releases

Recorded live in Barcelona, this album provides a journey through our work from the last 18 months, taking cues from the Dubs, Music For Photographers and Brutalism projects. The music and the visuals of the live performance document the brutalist architecture, found at home and in the locations we visit, while also reflecting its place within the landscape and our lives.
Using original photography, this live AV show developed the visuals using artificial intelligence and neural networks to create new constructions, worlds and visions for a version of a future just over the page.
The Black Dog and Amoeba Design are working together to realise a series of art projects for live events and gallery installations, all under the banner of My Brutal Life, an ongoing series of projects encompassing music, photography, books, exhibitions, 360 audio-visual events and live performances.
This live performance marks the end of the first year in developing this body of work.

Fighting Modernism EP – Out 6th May 2022
Posted on 5th May 2022 in Releases

“Fighting Modernism” features three new tracks to continue the Brutal EP series and expand on the concepts of the well-received Music For Photographers album.
“People don’t like change, their era always was and still is the best. They no longer live on the edge of the page, they’re trapped in a nostalgic Ponzi scheme that they never asked for.
Modernity traps you emotionally, locking you into a “small island” mentally, but who the hell dreams of going back to the bronze age? The romantic in you died when you moved to the city, you gave up the right to be so judgemental.
Fight back, grey over green. Don’t let them convince you that they know better: they’ll ply you with platitudes while planning you out of existence.”

Concrete Reasoning EP – Out Now
Posted on 3rd March 2022 in Releases

Concrete Reasoning builds on the foundations of Music For Photographers and Brutal Minimalism with three fresh reinforced cuts, all inspired by the colour work of Le Corbusier and matching the ambitious lines striking across the skyline.
Let’s face it, who else in electronic music is writing about brutalism and architecture?
As always, the bass is ever-present, waiting for the minimal patterns to play out like echos traversing new structures. For this to exist in its intended form, the war for Grey Over Green must begin.

Brutal Minimalism EP – Coming Soon
Posted on 24th January 2022 in Releases
Four fresh concrete cuts from a promised future that we all deserve.
The Brutal Minimalism EP follows us on a journey across several sites in Yorkshire famous for their brutal architecture. The four rhythmic beat-driven tracks were all written on location while waiting for ideal lighting and the rain to stop. And let’s face it, it rains a lot in Yorkshire.
The tracks evolved over a number of weeks, produced within the architecture of the car parks, streets and nearby green spaces, all to find the distinct vibrations of the place. Sound samples were captured from the environment and banks of percussion, pads and tones were created for use throughout the pieces. Working within this architecture influenced the process and ultimately shaped the evolution of the tracks.
Here we present four slices from those sessions where we ask you to embrace the grey over the green.

Music Radar Interview
Posted on 6th January 2022 in News, Press
We recently had a good chat with Danny Turner over at Music Radar about the album Music For Photographers and our approach to developing recent projects.
“We had all the OB8s and Roland stuff, but we just sampled the hell out of them and created our own libraries, so why have thirty grand’s worth of stuff that we bought off Phil Collins sat in the corner?”
