“During our studio sessions, we occasionally get sidetracked, either by following creative impulses or simply having fun. While working on these mixes for our streaming channel, it was clear something else was happening. Something unexpected. It unfolded on its own.
Before we realised it, we had over three hours of completely new recordings, all centred around “My Brutal Life”. This box set features over 3 hours of brand-new music and exclusive remixes, presented on three CDs. It’s an exploration of long-form works, leading with emotion rather than structure, so come with us through the inner cityscapes, where grey over green wins every time.”
Available to order now and released on the 12th of September 2025.
My Brutal Life EP – Out Now
Posted on 20th July 2025 in Releases

“My Brutal Life EP is a reflection of the structures that surround us, the weight of concrete, and the beauty found in repetition. These tracks are built like the spaces we inhabit, imposing yet intimate, rigid yet alive with texture. Our work continues to document these buildings, not only with music but with photographs and text.
The music emerged from our continued fascination with Brutalism, shaped by long walks through these vast modern monuments. Each track captures a different facet of that world, from the symmetry, synchronisation and repetition we are drawn to, to the raw emotion embedded in these spaces. This is sound as architecture, rhythm as structure.
We call them home.”

“We always knew we would return to this project because Brutalism remains a profound part of our lives, something we cherish deeply. Inspired by the photographs we have been capturing for a new book, the music emerged effortlessly. Documenting these buildings feels instinctive; this is where we belong.
Our unwavering fixation on symmetry, synchronisation, and repetition endures, but this time we believe the music reveals a more emotional depth. That is the direction we have been moving towards. Some things simply take time, yet this album seemed to take shape of its own accord.
Join us as we walk through these modern day cathedrals, monuments to the people.”

Whether you’re battling insomnia, overactive thoughts, or the creeping silence of late-night solitude, our immersive soundscapes will envelop you in a world of slow-burning tension and melancholic serenity. Let the distant hum of decaying cities, ghostly transmissions, and mechanical lullabies guide you into the unknown.

Nybrutalism – New 4-Track EP, Out 12/1/2024
Posted on 11th January 2024 in Releases

Coming on the 12th of January 2024, we’ve got a new 4-track EP of studio recordings to complete our recent brutal ambient projects, My Brutal Life and Music For Moore Street Substation.
“Crafted to work within the imposing walls of Moore Street Substation during our ten-day residency, these brutalist hymns mark the pinnacle of our creative exploits in 2023. This industrial cathedral inspired a musical odyssey, and within these final four cuts, the profound influence of one of our favourite buildings resonates, intricately woven into the fabric of each composition.
As we unveil these sonic offerings, we invite listeners to experience the depth of emotion, the resonance of architecture, and the transformative power of our musical exploration. Nybrutalism is a definitive conclusion to this fantastic writing period, encapsulating the essence of Moore Street Substation, and completing our artistic journey within those concrete confines.”

Further Details
“When we discovered that we could use the top floor of the Moore Street Substation for the exhibition of My Brutal Life, we couldn’t believe our luck. For us, this brutalist icon is a perfect fit for My Brutal Life, so we decided immediately to lean into the unique nature of the building.
It’s one of our favourite brutalist buildings in Sheffield and provides a massive space for the event. It’s rarely open to the public and often shrouded in mystery. Many people, even locals, don’t know what the building is.
The space did, however, have problems. The soundcheck for the audio revealed a particular issue – the immense space has a massive natural reverberation of over 9.7 seconds. The original album and soundtrack for My Brutal Life wouldn’t work in this environment, with the bass and drums creating an overwhelming sense of claustrophobia. We returned to the studio to remix the existing tracks and create new pieces to fit this space. We wanted people to feel comfortable and spend time with the art.
As a result, we had a very different soundtrack to the original, so we’ve decided to release the full audio as it was heard in the Moore Street Substation.”
